As Enel rains lightning down on Upper Yard, Nami and Luffy race up the giant beanstalk on a waver. Enel, wanting to avoid a confrontation with Luffy, tries to make the beanstalk fall completely, but Luffy refuses to give up. As the beanstalk falls, Luffy jumps off the waver and uses the golden ball on his arm to conduct the electrical current from Enel’s thundercloud. Everyone looks on in awe as Luffy’s attack causes the thundercloud to disperse.
Luffy and Kuro fight while the Black Cat Pirates encourage Kuro, who plans to kill them all. In the forest, the Usopp Pirates attack Jango to protect Kaya. Kuro then uses a special technique to attack his own crew, enraging Luffy.

A misunderstanding causes a fight between Luffy and Zoro. Believing Zoro attacked friendly villagers, Luffy furiously clashes with him. Zoro tries to explain that the villagers are actually Baroque Works agents. Their fight is so intense that they accidentally defeat the enemy agents Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine.
The Straw Hats get a special compass called a Log Pose to navigate the Grand Line, as a regular compass doesn’t work. After Luffy accidentally breaks their first one, Crocus gives them another. They then agree to take two strangers, Mr. 9 and Miss Wednesday, to Whisky Peak, and set off on their journey.
After a long, hot day in the desert, the Straw Hats are exhausted. Luffy and Usopp get into an argument over water. Their belongings are stolen by birds, and Luffy, while chasing them, encounters a giant lizard. The crew kills the lizard and eats it, also acquiring a camel they name Matsuge. Luffy then begins…
